OfSTED Inspections
The school was inspected in January 2023, and was given the grading Good.
We are very pleased that OfSTED recognised so many of the elements that make this such a special school. Pupils feel safe and know that they are cared for. Behaviour is excellent and pastoral care is a real strength. These are the best foundations for learning to take place. Indeed, “pupils achieve highly in reading, writing and mathematics.”
We have invested much time in developing our approach to teaching and learning so that pupils readily question thoughts and beliefs. This ambitious, philosophical approach has led to pupils having a deeper and longer lasting understanding of what they have learned. It is particularly gratifying to see this being recognised. As OfSTED say, we now need to ensure that this approach is the same in all areas of learning, not just the main curriculum areas, and this is something we have already been working on.
Communication is an area where we can improve and we will do all we can to get this right. OfSTED felt that the broader and extra curriculum offer was very strong but that we have not shared the full extent of everything that goes on in a typical week or term. We are looking at ways of making this more effective.
