PTA - The Friends

Who are we?

The Friends are the equivalent of The Chandler PTA – we are a friendly and informal group who organise fundraising and social events throughout the year.

All The Chandler staff, parents and carers are automatically Friends, but anyone who is interested in supporting the children and the school is welcome to get involved – this includes staff, grandparents, family members, etc.

What do we do?

The Friends are a crucial part of fundraising for the school and they make a huge difference to funds to ensure school improvements.  Your donations help us provide the little extras that make the children’s experiences in school so incredible - making learning more creative and fun, which the school budget simply doesn’t have the scope to pay for.

In recent years we have contributed towards: the music room; the ICT suite; outdoor areas; staging for productions; the sound system for the hall; sensory equipment; library and computing resources; planters for classrooms; internet safety workshops; and first aid sessions for the children.

We run a variety of events each year –the main ones being discos and the Summer and Christmas Fairs. We also hold smaller fundraising events (cake sales, second hand uniform sales, ice lolly sales etc.), and also get involved with community events (such as WitStock and Leaf Farm Open Day).

What can you do?

We are always looking for new members to join in to help drive future fundraising events and ideas for the coming year. We would love more people to join the team with whatever skills you have to offer - social media management (creating posts, events and responding to queries), designing flyers and posters, fundraising experience/lead generation, great local contacts for raffle and auction prizes, event planning, etc. etc. – we would love to hear from you all!

But you can get as involved as you want to be! If you can’t make the half-termly Friends meetings, there are plenty of opportunities to help out – such as selling cakes after school, baking cakes to sell, helping to set up events on the day, coming up with ideas for events and so on!
