Data Protection - overview

The Chandler CofE Junior is committed to protecting the personal information of our pupils, families, and visitors. This page summarises our approach to data protection and explains how we handle information in line with UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. We use personal data to support learning, wellbeing, safeguarding, and effective communication with parents and carers.

We collect information such as pupil details, contact information for parents or carers, attendance records, and records needed to provide pastoral and educational support. We may also process information relating to special educational needs, health and wellbeing, and safeguarding where appropriate. We only use personal data for legitimate purposes, and we keep it secure. Where we share information, it is done responsibly and only with organisations that have a lawful reason to receive it, such as the local authority, relevant government departments, and our service providers acting on our instructions.

We take steps to ensure personal data is accurate, relevant, and kept for no longer than necessary. Parents and carers have rights under data protection law, including the right to request access to certain information we hold, ask for corrections, and in some circumstances request that data is erased or restricted. If you have a concern about how we handle personal data, you can contact the school in the first instance. You also have the right to raise a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
